At around 10 a.m. on June 27, with the departure of train G8699 from Chongqingdong Railway Station, the Chongqingdong-Qianjiang Section of Chongqing-Xiamen High Speed Railway officially opened. The largest high speed rail hub in western China, Chongqingdong Railway Station, also commenced operation after over three years of construction.
The section passes through Nan'an district, Banan district, Nanchuan district, Wulong district, Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County and Qianjiang district in Chongqing. It connects with the Qianjiang-Zhangjiajie-Changde High Speed Railway at Qianjiang Railway Station. The main line is 242 kilometers long, with a designed speed of 350 km/h, adding a fast passenger corridor between the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration.
Chongqingdong Railway Station is located in Nan'an District, Chongqing. The station building covers four floors with a total construction area of 120,000 square meters. It has 29 arrival and departure tracks and 28 passenger platforms, enabling multifunctional integration of medium and long-distance high speed rail, ring line commuting and metropolitan rail transit. Passengers can conveniently transfer between different rail systems.
